Biography
Rajaram Maharaj succeeded his half-brother Sambhaji after the latter's martyrdom. Facing the full onslaught of Aurangzeb's army, he fled to the fortress of Jinji in Tamil Nadu, from where he directed Maratha resistance for eight years. His reign saw the continuation of the Maratha war of independence against the Mughals.
